1 Peter 4:9 "Be hospitable to one another"
1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Encourage one another and build each other up"
We have chosen the pineapple as our symbol. The pineapple has signified gracious hospitality and kindness since colonial times. As we work together in service to God, home, and country, may the spirit of hospitality open doors of opportunity.
In order to open new doors of opportunity, it is vitally important to promote membership by welcoming new members, encouraging inactive members, and expressing appreciation to those who have been steadfast in their service.

For over one hundred years, DAR members have worked tirelessly to build, maintain, and preserve our beautiful complex of buildings in Washington, DC. These buildings stand as a testament of the many accomplishments of our society. In 2005, an extensive study was done of our complex of buildings that identified over $22 million in building restoration projects that need to be completed within the next ten years. It is incumbent upon all Daughters to insure that our historic buildings continue to welcome members and visitors long into the future. A new President General's Project entitled, "Open Doors of Hospitality" was approved by the National Board of Management on July 1, 2007, to be ratified by the delegates at the 117th Continental Congress in 2008.
